Open Burning Information

Outdoor fires are prohibited in the Cities of Neenah and Menasha unless you have a recreational fire permit.  You must obtain a permit before any burning occurs.

The intent of both Cities is to give citizens the opportunity to have recreational fires at single-family and two-family dwellings, provided that such fires are in strict compliance with restrictions relating to recreational fires.  The City of Neenah Police Department, The City of Menasha Police Department and Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue will enforce these restrictions to ensure that fires do not compromise safety or cause neighborhood concerns.

You will need to purchase a permit from the City in which you reside in.  City of Neenah Residents can purchase a permit from the Treasurer's Office at Neenah City Hall located at 211 Walnut Street.  The permit fee is $15.

City of Menasha Residents can obtain a permit from the City Clerk's Office at Menasha City Hall located at 140 Main Street.  The permit fee is $20.

Permits run from January 1st through December 31st of each year.  You must obtain a permit every calendar year.
