Message: Welcome to Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue. Every time I hear, see or type the words "Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue" its hard to believe that we are a merged department. If someone would have told me in 1974, when I started as a firefighter for the City of Menasha, that I would someday be sitting in an administration office in the City of Neenah I would of thought they were crazy.
However, starting January 1, 2003 while holding the position of Deputy Chief for the City of Menasha I moved out of my office and relocated to the City of Neenah to hold the position of Deputy Chief of Operations for Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue. If you're like everyone else, you're probably wondering what does an Operations Chief do. The following is my job description, "This is a management position responsible for managing and directing the fire operations functions of the fire department. The work involves direct supervision of the Shift Commanders and their subordinate employees, planning and scheduling staff, budgeting for operations activities and directly assisting the Fire Chief in various administration functions such as developing the department budget, long-term capital improvements, labor negotiations and other personnel related matters. This position works with limited supervision of the Fire Chief."

In a nutshell, I work closely with the Fire Chief and the other Assistant Chiefs. We are an outstanding team working together with a passion for people and a vision for the future. The events of September 11, 2001 have changed our lives, everything we do in the fire service somehow reflects that tragic day. As leaders, we have a challenge to not worry about how much we know, but rather how fast we are willing to accept change.

I have been in the fire service since January 1974; and it's been a wonderful experience with many changes. I have seen many personnel come and go and made some very close friends. When you hear about brothers and sisters in the fire service there is nothing that could be truer.

In closing, I just want to say that I am proud to be a member of Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue and believe that you as citizens are protected by a outstanding dedicated group of individuals. Please remember all firefighters everywhere in your prayers.
